Extreme gardening

We've been trying to improve the quality of our farm. Our vegetable patch and orchard have been overrun with Sycamore tree and weeds particularly wild grape vines. We've tried to to do this by hand to no avail so we called in some locals to help. They recommended that we hire a JCB (with Driver) to dig out all the tree roots of dead trees, and to flatten the area which we want to be our new garden vegetable patch.
So, recently, The locals can and cut down all the weedy trees and mulched them and our local friendly JCB man came and uprooted all the trees. He also leveled our veg patch and used the remain sandy soil to level out our main garden bit. This means we have loads of fire wood, a larger area where we can mow without fear of breaking the lawnmower and we've a new flat level for growing veg. These photos show it all off

Two Steps forward, One back

I'm now at home on the farm trying to do some stuff and today has been a day of good and bad stuff.
The Good stuff

1. I fixed the lawn mower 
2. Successfully cut the lawn
3. Solar shower is now installed on a living tree with no chance of it being cut down
4. I can buy a snow plough directly from the company

Bad stuff

1. Hot tub has been chewed by mice - This needs a lot of care and love to repair
2. New car is back at the mechanic again 
3. Lawn sweeper and trailer for lawnmower will cost £240 in shipping - Have to find local alternatives

Some progress is better then no progress and still feeling the happiest I have for a long time

Dumbing of Ages

Dumbing of Ages is a webcomic which i am particularly fonder of. I mainly discovered it from reading shortpacked.com.
The current story is about the characters going to to church (in between a running plot) and their reactions to it.
What strikes me the most is the way that the Author seems to have experienced the conflict between church/God and the church not being the place where anyone can come Unfortunately, I would say that this

All Quiet on the Blogging front

There has not been a post for ages - Sorry!

This week there will be lots of updates as we are going to get one of our piggies butchered.

We'll have lots of meat as the pig is about 200kg!!! I'll post updates/photos/etc

Right off now to bake some fresh bagels to be served with fresh butter and fried eggs :)

I've been watching loads of justice league unlimited(JLU) and thoroughly enjoying it! For those of you(s) who aren't geeks  DC comics have rebooted their universe (started from a Blank canvas again) and one of the comic review caught my eye. It basically said Wonder woman is one of the most important characters of the DC universe (Batman and superman making up the holy trinity) but there are no decent stories/comics with the classic tale which involves wonder woman. This kinda of idea creeps throught out the whole of the DC universe and eventually leads to the bigger question "what do we do with Wonder woman?" Do we make her into a female superman who is strong and tough but not superman, so he can save her; do we make her a man-hater a strong feminist or do we make her into the token eye candy(when was the last time you saw a flat-chested, non-curvy plain wonder woman)

Now you might think I am crazy to dedicate a blog episode to this but as I was thinking about these Issues, I realised that maybe these issues aren't super hero related but for all of womankind. Take for example sport, Woman athletics have to be glamourous for them to be taken serious Sepp Blatter thinks that woman's footballers should be more "femamin"(http://tinyurl.com/6z3mmxk). Beach Volley - Everyone watches because they love volleyball! If they did, indoor volleyball would be so much more popular and taken off.

This questing of the role of women in churches is another example - Every good pastor needs a trophy wife, but as long as they are not causing problem/headlines it is ok! Heck, we can even give a job which isn't that important! The The idea of a woman leading in a new direction is dangerous and what would happen if she had a new story ....

So would the real wonderwoman step forward and show us all the way?
